Summer is on the horizon and you’re ready to have fun when the school year ends. You have a summer job lined up, so you’ll have some extra spending money and you have some great vacation plans. It’s also the perfect time to spend time working on your physical fitness.
Studies show you should get at least 150 minutes of exercise per week. This doesn’t have to be difficult! There are plenty of activities to choose from, and we’re here to help you make plans to stay fit this summer.
Join A Gym
Many gyms offer amenities like group fitness classes, personal training, functional fitness equipment and cardio options. Decide what it is you need to do to accomplish your goals, then look for those amenities when joining.
As a student, you’re probably eligible for student discounts during the summer. At Cowboys Fit, you can join for the summer months only and skip the enrollment and annual fees.
Find Gym Partners
Now that you and your friends are out of school for the summer, it might be difficult to connect. Give yourself a reason to hang out by exercising together.
Exercise is far more fun when you do it with friends. You’ll have other people to keep you accountable and you’ll be able to stay social.
Each person should come up with their own favorite fitness activity that everyone can do together. Each week, let a new person choose the activity. You’ll find yourself trying new things!
Safety is of utmost importance while working out. A gym partner is there for accountability but can also be there to spot you when you’re taking that leap to become stronger.
Take a Group Fitness Class
This is a great opportunity to try something new! Group fitness classes create a fun and uplifting atmosphere – and there are plenty of classes to choose from!

Don’t Forget Recovery
Proper recovery is just as important to your fitness journey as the actual workout. If you don’t give your body time to recover, it will force you to take a rest via an injury or burnout.

Cryotherapy
During cryotherapy, you’ll be exposed to temperatures lower than -100 degrees celsius. The exposure only lasts for two to four minutes, so it’s less painful and much shorter than an ice bath.
Benefits of cryotherapy are far and wide. The increased circulation from the rush of cold air results in efficient transportation of nutrients to your body’s soft tissues. This also expedites healing and recovery from muscle damage (strength workouts). This means reduced inflammation after workouts.
HydroMassage
HydroMassage uses warm water pressure to massage your body. It’s fantastic for muscles that are healing from tough workouts, but it’s also effective for people struggling with joint pain or other forms of chronic pain. Not to mention, it’s relaxing! A 20-minute HydroMassage session is the perfect way to end your tough workout.
NormaTec
NormaTec recovery system is a form of compression therapy used to relieve muscle tension and reduce inflammation. Try it on your legs, arms or hips!
